SSRVM Trust Champions Sustainability with 1MW Solar Plant in Karnataka
At Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir (SSRVM) Trust, sustainability and social responsibility are woven into the very fabric of our vision and action. In a landmark initiative, the SSRVM Trust takes a significant stride towards sustainability in education and environmental stewardship by setting up a 1MW solar power plant at Nagalamadike, Pavagada, Karnataka. The renewable energy initiative, commissioned in collaboration with Hyenr Green Energy Solutions is part of SSRVM Trust’s unwavering commitment to creating a sustainable future— generating over 16.65 lakh units of clean energy annually, powering multiple SSRVM schools, the Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research, and the 300-bed Sri Sri Ayurveda Hospital in Bengaluru, furthering the goal of self-reliant and eco-friendly campuses.
The SSRVM Trust has always been at the forefront of value-based education and social impact. By transforming its campuses into green campuses and models of sustainability, it not only reduces its carbon footprint but also cultivates environmental responsibility in thousands of young minds. More than an infrastructure landmark, this project stands as a live learning model for SSRVM students, encouraging the next generation to embrace green technologies and sustainable practices.
Pavagada, renowned for its vast solar potential, made Nagalamadike an ideal choice for this initiative—both strategically and symbolically. With excellent solar irradiance, the region provides optimal conditions for large-scale solar energy generation. The establishment of the project at Pavagada reflects the Trust’s vision of harnessing natural abundance with foresight, while exemplifying how sustainable choices can be rooted in both practicality and purpose.
With this solar power plant, SSRVM Trust proudly aligns itself with India’s National Solar Mission, contributing to the country’s vision to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030 and building a cleaner, greener future.
Our planet is sacred, and it is our responsibility to protect and preserve it for future generations. This solar plant is just the beginning of a larger vision. SSRVM Trust is actively working towards making all its campuses energy self-sufficient by embracing renewable energy solutions. With a wide network of schools and institutions across India, the SSRVM Trust embarks on a phased transition to clean energy—progressively moving toward eco-friendly and green campuses that are not only centres of learning but also models of sustainability and energy independence.
